The Parrot-like group covers both domesticated and wild species originating from the tropical regions of the world. The size range is considerable from the tiniest South American parrotlets to the large Cockatoos of Australia and Indonesia and this should be reflected in the food that is offered to them. Traditionally, parrot-like birds were fed almost entirely on Sunflower Seeds and many pet birds have survived for generations on just that, but they are no different to any other birds and require variety to ensure that they stay in good health and thrive.

The larger seed-eating parrot-like species require similar basic seeds to the smaller parrot-like with the addition of peanuts and other nuts plus some green food and fruit.
