February garden birds
During February you will see the garden birds that have survived winter foraging continuously in search of food. The fittest of these survivors may also start to flaunt courtship displays.

The Goldcrest
Found all over Britain the Goldcrest is the UK’s tiniest bird. It's usually found in coniferous gardens, hedgerows, and woods. A very active and tame bird, it will flit from branch to branch searching for insects and spiders.

The Green Woodpecker
The Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis) is a member of the woodpecker family (Picidae). It is one of three types of woodpecker and is the largest. The crown and nape are crimson, the mantle and wings are green, with a yellowish rump and whitish underparts, the tail and bill are blackish and there is black marking around its white eye.
