Hanging Parrots

The Hanging Parrots get their name from their roosting habit of hanging upside-down amongst foliage and similarly they will roost hanging upside-down from the wire mesh of an aviary roof.

Keeping Hanging Parrots today is much easier than it used to be with the advent of suitable nectar mixes. They also require a range of millet seeds and Haith's Mixed Millets provides excellent variety with a wide range of minerals and vitamins, while Millet Sprays suspended from the enclose roof are just perfect for these birds to hang from to forage.

An occasional supplement of Haith's Parrot-Like Tonic Seed is a useful source of vitamins and minerals, which may be lacking in standard mixes. It contains beneficial 'oil seeds' giving variety and interest to maybe an otherwise uninteresting diet.

Fine Oystershell Grit and a little Granulated Charcoal should always be on offer to help digest the seed taken by hanging parrots and Small Cuttlefish Bone will provide essential calcium. Other essential minerals may be obtained from Haith's Mineralised Tonic Grit.
