Recently the fishing for most of the lakes that I angle upon has been rather slow and I put this down to the huge amounts of free protein readily available to the fish – i.e. tadpoles and small frogs, and judging by the amount of small amphibians hopping all around the margins…it was no wonder.
Most of my fishing over the last month or so has been short sessions of between three and five hours. So this time around I thought I would run through how I approach short session fishing…

In the clear light of today's more modern thinking, most of what follows is naive not to say just plain wrong, but if you don't try you never learn so read what follows while wearing a pair of 1980s glasses!
This is a rehashed version of the very first article I had published in Carpworld. It featured in issue 1 - the one with Rod on the cover in some strange parka-like coat. It details my early years as a carp bait freak and my first encounter with Haith's products.
