The Big Red Carp Fishing Blog
I had planned a short session on my small club lake, again with the big perch in mind [I`m somewhat obsessed with perch right now]...
After the relative failure of not getting one of the `mythical`fives from the previous mentioned writings, I jumped at the chance to accompany a very good friend of mine to a lovely little multi species complex...our aim was to catch some of the large percys in the lake. Actually it was his turn to choose the venue, so I was glad he chose...read on and you`ll see why...
After the good session on my friend’s lake, I decided to fish in a similar fashion; real close in stuff again. I had heard of a total monster perch being caught from this unobtrusive pool and, as you can imagine, a five pound plus perch is a real big fish indeed!
Someone once told me; sometimes you have to go backwards to progress. How true that is in my case as, for the last few years, I have really got back into my close range traditional float fishing - something I used to do all the time...and I love it.
In many ways I`m very fortunate; you see, literally, one minute is all that it takes to drive from my cottage to a small but perfectly formed complex of lakes. It’s a mixed fishery with some lovely big Roach and Carp amongst the species present, including very big Goldfish.
As you may have already seen, I recently enjoyed a very successful trip to le Queroy, a wonderful French fishery in the Charente. I caught 70 fish in less than 60 hours fishing time – quite hectic fishing, I am sure you will agree.
