The Big Red Carp Fishing Blog
Here at Haith's Baits we have got everything you need to create the very best solutions for catching crafty carp, and one of the best ways to fool them it to use The Method.
Ken likes to trial just about every ingredient we have on the premises and here he talks about his discovery of Mealworm Crumble as a carp bait.
This month I would like to show you one of the simplest, cheapest yet most effective bird food mixes going, namely an 80/20 blend of two splendid ingredients:
I am not 100% sure, but I think that the amazing properties of our unique carp attractor, Robin Red®, was first discovered and then used to astonishing effect by the late Ian Booker, one of the most successful carp anglers of all time. For many years Ian’s captures of big carp from lakes in the Home Counties held the carp world spellbound, and I doubt if anyone has so dominated the big carp scene since.
Following on from the amazing success of SuperRed™, we have developed three more mixes in the same vein: NaturalRed™, MarineRed™ and HoneyRed™. Initially SuperRed™ was put together primarily as a Method Mix but further development has seen it transformed into a highly versatile groundbait, (simply add lake water top the desired consistency), a paste bait (add eggs and then form into small paste balls), or made into boiled baits (mix with eggs, roll into boilie-sized balls and then boiled). The three new ready-to-use blends are designed with the same versatility in mind.
When the first birdfood baits were discovered way back when Noah was a lad, Haiths® was right there at the front when it came to sourcing ingredients. Of course, you all know about the discovery of Robin Red® but I doubt as many of you have heard of such classics as Nectarblend™ , PTX™ and Prosecto™ . These birdfoods have since become firm favourites of the bait trade and a great many proprietary base mixes are now formulated with one or more of these ingredients in the recipe. Indeed, Mark McKenna of Baitcraft fame was fulsome in his praise of Haith's® products in his definitive bait series in Carpworld entitled Bait: It’s a Four-Letter Word.
