National Nest Box Week (14th – 21st February) comes and goes each year and nationally only a tiny percentage of us take the initiative to put up a nest box to help new families. We know that February’s not the most inviting month to wander around the garden seeking the perfect place to site a nest box; however, this year we’re going to help by putting a 50% down payment on 'Help to Fly' properties so you can attract more first-time flyers to your garden this spring.
We’ve selected three “Help to Fly” properties and our help to buy agents, our product advisors, are briefed and ready to help you choose the best boxes for your birds. For example, if you’d like to edge your bets, our Classic 32mm Blue Tit nest box easily converts to an open-fronted Robin box (simply by removing two screws on the front fascia). Our open-fronted Robin Nest Box is also suitable for Wrens and flycatchers. And our (more expensive) dark wood Tit family nest box is ideal for Tree Sparrows, Blue Tits, Coal Tits and Great Tits.
If you’d prefer to see our premium nest box listings, click here - we've discounted a number of them (by 10%) but they don't feature in our Help to Buy scheme.
High-quality nest boxes are very desirable and make great homes for wild birds. The truth is, though, that this is really a numbers game; in that the more nest boxes you site – the more likely you’ll have lots of busy parents and fledglings to feed around the same time BBC Springwatch is back on our televisions. For those who have seen the movie Field of Dreams, if you build it – they will come!
Our “Help to Fly” bird box agents are ready to help you secure a piece of prime real-estate to help first-time flyers get a claw on the market. Call them Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm or shop online.
To help encourage you to put at least one nest box up during National Nest Box Week, we're launching our help to buy a bird box scheme - select one (or both!) of the following nest boxes and we will pay half (£3.75) and help to buy it.
We hope you’ll help us make this the biggest year for bird boxes.
