We’ve been tasked with reducing Plastic Pollution and we’ve eagerly accepted the challenge in the form of Haith’s Mission ‘R’.
Haith’s Mission ‘R’ stands for Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle.
What does Mission ‘R’ mean for our customers?
- Reduce - We’ve made some important changes to the way in which we send out your bird seed. Single item orders from 2kg upwards are being delivered in our famous paper bags – no longer encased in a plastic woven sack. We’ve also made a decision to remove some smaller weights from our product range. By doing so this is helping Haith’s to cut down plastic packaging and enabling us to utilise our paper bags instead. By optimising our weights we hope that this will further reduce our carbon footprint as shipping fresh air isn’t sustainable. We’ve received some fantastic feedback so far from customers supporting this movement! We are committed to sending out our catalogues free from an outer plastic sleeve. Customers also have the option to browse through our online catalogue as an alternative from receiving a paper copy in the post.
- Re-use – For customers who have received plastic woven bags in the past, we’re actively encouraging them to re-use them. Some have commented that they find them to be really helpful when it comes to clearing waste in the garden. We’ve also introduced a Jute bag for life to our range of products. It’s made from natural plant fibres which are completely biodegradable, another way to eradicate plastic bags.
- Recycle – Our factory regularly receives goods in cardboard boxes. Instead of discarding them our factory team shred them and use them as packaging. We’ve dedicated an entire blog discussing our efforts which can be found here - https://www.haiths.com/missionr/
We’re committed to continuing on with our never-ending mission to support our customers with feeding birds and saving the planet. If you’ve an idea that you’d like to share with us or would like to provide us with any feedback, we’d love to hear from you! Our dedicated email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
