Ivy

Monday, 16th March 2015

There is one plant that provides more nesting sites than any other - Ivy.
Especially if it is engulfing an old stone wall or clinging to the side of a house maybe curling round a few sections of trellis. Ivy stems are perfect for nest  foundations, and the leaves provide cover, shelter and shade. What’s more, Ivy is excellent for insects and provides late berries for winter bird food. For wildlife Ivy is not a nuisance, it is a godsend.
