Weighs approximately 550g with an internal plastic hanger that keeps its shape and doesn't disintegrate.
Suet is now a year-round food and not just to supplement winter feeding; feed suet throughout the entire year and particularly during key periods, such as: the breeding season, during moulting and prior to migration.
Another reason to feed suet: According to a recent article published by the BTO: “Providing extra food in early spring led to earlier egg laying and increased productivity
for the Great Spotted Woodpecker.” In fact, Great Spotted Woodpeckers “produced almost twice as many fledged youngsters.” This is fantastic news, and once again confirms that feeding wild birds is supporting conservation.
Haith’s customers have reported seeing more Great Spotted Woodpeckers in their gardens over the past decade - we’ve always hoped this was down to bird food being made available. Alas now it seems likely, thanks to this study, see: http://goo.gl/RdbKM - that supplementary feeding is playing an active part in the big increase in Great Spotted Woodpecker numbers the way it has for Goldfinches and other species.

I found this product a little difficult to get out of plastic cylinder but once I had it's easy to hang.I haven't had many birds use it as yet but probably need time to find it.

"Great For Larger Birds As Well As The Little Ones" by Jennifer

This suet doesn't get demolished and devoured in a day or two like some others. The birds like it a lot and it's very easy to hang anywhere not requiring any special extras to do so.

"The Starlings Love It" by J Moore

We haven't seen starlings in our garden for years but since we put these mealworms cakes up they have come back. We can have up to 15 birds queueing to have their turn! It's very cute seeing the fledglings with their parents. Water should be provided.

"Very Popular With All Birds" by Joyce Davis

I have this sitting in a Gardman ground feeder tray on the patio table.
This is very popular with the blackbirds and robins and is also visited by wood pigeon, blue tits, long tailed tits, great tits and hedge sparrows.
Although I have other suet blocks hanging from various trees visited by the tits, they still come to visit this candle.

"Brilliant Design And Content, Birds & I Love It." by Sue Kendall

It lasts well, does not disintegrate even under onslaught from woodpeckers. I have finally worked out how to remove the plastic sheath easily!! I hang the item up, hold it firmly and with a small sharp kitchen knife cut down the 'perforated' lines for an inch. Then hold the OUTER top corners which are now available, and pull them diagonally down-and-outwards. Sounds complicated, but when you actually do it, it's quick and easy. I used to try to pull the strip BETWEEN the perforated lines down ..... it always broke and left me hacking at them laboriously.
