It isn’t just the breeding season that garden birds benefit from a supply of live foods, mealworms and waxworms can be fed at any time of year and will always be taken.
If you find the thought of feeding live foods a bit daunting, please don’t! There’s nothing to it and you’ll soon get used to the idea of feeding dried or live food once you’ve given them a go (it’s really not that different to putting out a birdseed mix).
Regular live food deliveries:
Why not order just once and then receive a regular delivery of live worms from us? You can start and finish your deliveries whenever you like and increase/decrease the amount of your order or frequency of deliveries simply by giving us a call on freephone 0800 298 7054 Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm).
Haith's Tip! If you'd rather not feed live food why not try Dried Mealworms; soak them first in warm water to add moisture during the breeding season. Mealworms - Live & Dried are great bird food for wild birds and general wildlife including Hedgehogs.
Mealworms are the larvae of the Tenebrio Molitar Beetle. Their diet is vegetarian which means they are safe to feed to animals and birds without passing on potentially fatal diseases which may be present in offal-fed larvae such as maggots. They are a clean odourless and relatively inexpensive livefood, rich in protein and easy to store. Mealworms are popular as live food for many species of aviary and garden birds. They consist of approximately 50.4% crude protein and because of their pure cereal/vegetable diet, they are an extremely safe live food to use.
